The struggle in life is to create our own metaphor. To express who you are inside and through your actions make your values concrete. How we spend our days, what we choose to say or not to say, what we do with our lives, how we treat one another, it is all made manifest as our metaphor. Life should be an ongoing work of art, lovely, colorful, complex in design, passionate in its execution. True, we searach for guides, people who have built their lives as wonderful expressions of the best in all of us, and we say to ourselves, perhaps if I follow those footprints, my metaphor will be similar.
He gave us the real presents, not those wrapped in paper, but his thoughts, ideas and insights. For Kevin's metaphor was to give of himself, to value kindness above all else, to hold in abeyance judgment and to seek insight and understanding in all matters of the human heart.
We miss you, Kevin.
